How checks work

Only Pet Assured staff can record a check. Contributors can send us documents, but they can’t mark anything as checked themselves. Each check shows who recorded it and when, and if we haven’t done it, it says “Not yet checked”.

The five checks

From enquiry to certificate

For a sale, every check happens inside one supervised journey. Pet Assured stays in the middle from first message to delivery.

  1. 1

    Enquiry confirmed

We confirm your interest and put the listing on hold for you.

  2. 2

    Verification started

We review documents and record the checks we can do remotely.

  3. 3

    Picked up from the breeder

Our team inspects the pet in person at the contributor's location.

  4. 4

    Vet-checked

A partner vet examines the pet; the date and vet are recorded.

  5. 5

    Out for delivery

The pet travels to you. Delivery is recorded on video.

  6. 6

    Delivered

Your certificate and printable pet record are issued.

The certificate

When a pet bought through Pet Assured is delivered, we issue a certificate. It records the status of each check on the delivery date, alongside a printable pet record for your vet or groomer. It is not insurance, a guarantee, or a government certification.

Questions people ask

Something else on your mind? Create an account and send us an enquiry on any listing.

How do I pay for a pet?

Payment isn't taken on this website. Once your enquiry is confirmed, Pet Assured's team arranges payment with you directly.

Can I contact the seller myself?

No. Pet Assured passes every message on and keeps contact details private on both sides. Staying in the middle is how we can stand behind each step we record.

What does “Not yet checked” mean?

Pet Assured hasn't recorded that check yet. It is never shown as a pass, and you can see exactly which checks are still open before you decide.

Is the certificate a guarantee?

No. It records which checks Pet Assured carried out and their status on the delivery date. It is not insurance, a health guarantee or a government certification.

What if the pet I asked about is no longer available?

When a listing is closed or removed, everyone who enquired gets a note in their dashboard, so you aren't left waiting on a pet that has gone.

Which animals can be listed?

Dogs, cats and birds. Every listing, including adoption and lost or found reports, is reviewed by Pet Assured before it goes live.
